There is no sound in space

Why can't a good space scf-fi shows make it?

Star Trek all the series never really did anything for me. TNG was decent, but the conflicts seem artificial and forced sometimes.

Babylon 5?

Way to talky.

Can't get into Stargate, BattleStar Galactica and don't even mention Andromeda.

Star Wars doesn't count, those were movies, and while the EP 4 - 6 were great, 1 - 3 showed us Lucas can't write a coherent story by himself.

Which brings us to Firefly.

I caught a preview of it when I was watching, I don't know what, looked intriguing.

However, I never could find it, not on, time and date changes. And at that time I didn't own a DVR.

Oh, well maybe it wasn't that good.

Then I heard the put the show on DVD. Ok, I haven't been watching anything, I'm hearing great things, why not.

So I bought them and watched.

All I can say?

Joss Whedon is my master.

Ok so I borrowed that line from a T-shirt. But it is true, I love this show. This is what all those other shows are missing. Life on the edge, scrapping out a living doing honest and not so honest work. Trying to survive on the edge of space with a group of people that have issues, past history, and idiosyncrasies that create problems.

Even when they don't want any.

That and the Captian isn't trying to bang every hot space alien that shows up.

To me this is what a space sci-fi should be, should have been, but now we will never see.

Unless, you go see the movie. It rocks, it jumps, it's snappy, it's funny and it does things other movies are afraid to do.

My only complaint, it might be the last time I get to see these character together.

So go see Serenity.

Better still buy the DVDs too.
